So, Sega is going to great lengths to increase the hype for Project Needlemouse, turning this "Groundhog Day" into "Hedgehog Day". I also hear a lot of people saying that this is going to be "Sonic 4".
To be honest, from all I'm hearing, this is a massive DOWNgrade. Sure it's going back to what made Sonic great, but that doesn't mean it will be great. They've already said this game will only have Sonic, so they're not including Tails and Knuckles, despite them being part of what made the original Sonic games great.
I'm fairly sure this "downgrade" is influenced by the success of other games to do the same, don't quote me on this, but I believe Megaman 9 was the first of these. Megaman was a great series, not that I ever played any of them, but it's obvious that it was, and Megaman 9 is simply an add-on to that series, released in the modern age. It played exactly the same, and even took away a few features (slide, charge shot. Again I'm not familiar with the original Megamans, but I've seen some with these features.). The game did not try to make it look better, it was simply created to let fans have a new Megaman experience, for nostalgia.
What Project Needlemouse is doing is the exact opposite. They're making a Sonic game, in 2.5D HD with an "emphasis on speed", and of course we can expect more modern features about it. This is NOT what Sonic was, Sonic was a good old-fashioned platformer, yes you could run fast, but it wasn't all about speed.
I'm expecting Project Needlemouse to be Sonic 2010/2011, not Sonic 4. It's a new game, with new features. Apart from feeding off of our memories, Needlemouse is a NEW game, and expecting it to be a chance for you to relive the "good ol' days" is false hope. _________________ |

well, i don't agree. Sega have said in trailer it's about speed but honestly if i was making a game like S3&K i would say it's all about speed too even though it is not all about it. Also you say needlemouse will have new feautures, how do you know that? As long as i know they have only shown teaser, some art work and said that Sonic si the only playable which is bad... i'll get even more pissed if super sonic won't be on every level. Anyways so far i think they took right direction and i'm waiting till they show some gameplay. I think it may turn out very good, they've done that with unleashed so why can't they do it with needlemouse ? _________________

Nothing of what I just said was researched, I merely formulated an opinion based on predictable outcomes of games of this nature. (Smart-ass mode disabled.)
In other words, I assume the game will have new features because it's already known to be a 2.5D game, which means that it will be 3D rendering, meaning it's not a legacy game (using the old engine), it's something brand new.

Or it'll just fail like every new sonic game (except Unleashed) _________________ I live in the darkness of your house

it is indeed brand new, in first teaser (there is new one you can check on sonicthehedgehog4.com) they've said it's build up from ground. _________________

I've seen the trailer, I suppose it does LOOK like it could be ok. I don't particularly like the way the graphics look though, still, it's the gameplay that counts, and so far we've seen about 2 seconds, so that's not exactly enough to start saying whether it could rule or suck. _________________ |

Though I have seen a trailer and the running animation makes sonic seem slow though. _________________ I live in the darkness of your house

I really wish Interplay would make a Forum dedicated to the V13 Project aka Fallout MMO. The other thing that really surpises me is I would expect more posts about the Fallout MMO. Perhaps when Interplay actual posts a press release the forum will start buzzing.
I know one thing though for sure. I will be intimately involved in this forum and the Fallout MMO. |
